Trauma Therapy

Trauma can affect the way we think, feel, and experience the world long after a difficult event has passed. Some people who have experienced trauma meet criteria for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD. However, many people still suffer the effects of trauma without necessarily qualifying for that diagnosis. Trauma therapy helps you process these experiences safely and reconnect with a sense of stability and control. Whether trauma stems from a single event or ongoing experiences, therapy provides a supportive space to heal.

Signs Trauma May Be Affecting You

People often seek trauma therapy when they experience:

  • Intrusive memories or flashbacks
  • Feeling constantly on edge
  • Emotional numbness
  • Difficulty trusting others
  • Avoiding reminders of the past
  • Hypervigilance or feeling constantly on alert
  • Avoiding places, people, or situations
  • Irritability or anger
  • Sleeping difficulties or nightmares
  • Feeling disconnected from your body
  • Unhealthy relationship patterns that they feel like they can’t understand, prevent, or change

How Trauma Therapy Helps

Trauma therapy helps you:

  • Process difficult experiences safely
  • Reduce emotional triggers
  • Regulate your nervous system
  • Rebuild a sense of safety
  • Develop healthier coping strategies

My Approach to Trauma Therapy

I use trauma-informed approaches that focus on both emotional processing and nervous system regulation. Having extensive training in Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and trauma focused CBT, I weave them together to meet people where they are at. Healing from trauma involves working with both the mind and the body and it’s crucial to tailor each person’s treatment to what they need at the time.

Our work together focuses on creating a sense of safety, building resilience, and helping your nervous system move out of survival mode.
