EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences.

It is widely used to treat trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.

Common Reasons People Seek EMDR

  • Past traumatic experiences
  • PTSD symptoms
  • Anxiety or panic
  • Distressing memories that feel “stuck”
  • Negative beliefs about yourself
  • Emotional triggers that don’t seem to improve

How EMDR Therapy Helps

EMDR helps your brain reprocess difficult experiences so they no longer feel as intense or overwhelming.

Through this process, clients often experience:

  • Reduced emotional reactivity
  • Relief from distressing memories
  • Improved self-perception
  • Greater emotional stability

My Approach to EMDR

I use EMDR in a structured, supportive way, ensuring you feel prepared and grounded before processing begins. Sessions move at a pace that prioritizes safety and stability. I began my training with EMDR in 2006, but it has only been in recent years that EMDR has gained more widespread acceptance in the general community and I have had clients seek me out for it. It’s very different than other forms of therapy, but I have seen incredible healing happen when using it.
